When You Become Full-Frame: A Poem

Motivational Quote about Self-Esteem

If you don’t see your worth, you’ll always choose people who don’t see it either. When your self esteem rises, your life follows. -Mandy Hale (Photo credit: deeplifequotes)

I wrote this poem today while thinking about a friend who has low self-esteem. He admitted it to me recently, and it made me sad as he has so many great talents to share with the world. I realize I cannot change his attitude but perhaps he, and anyone who struggles with this issue, can find hope in this poem.

While I have moments during my day that I may feel down, I do think my self-esteem is healthy overall. Are you stepping on a positive path, as well?

When You Become Full-Frame

You, the man who does not see his own light,
Do light up my ridges into a solidified grace that
I have not known for so long.

You, you have so much heart that I wonder at
How it does not jut out of your chest,
You have soft skin that lays dormant under the
Doubtful gaze you hold of yourself.

I long for the day that you awake,
Mid-day, full-love, the moment when
You realize your own potential.
You are full-frame in all eyes except your own.

Glue those missing pieces and
I am here to help you shop the aisles of
Confidence –
Won’t you open the door so that
We can find the items you need,
You crave,
You deserve?

It’s almost like you are gently prodding your friend to discover his true self worth with this poem. Good stuff.

What a treasure to your friend, Christy, and to all who read this poem full of encouragement and hope. Your last verse perfectly tied it all together and I love “shop the aisles of confidence.” Hugs!

This is lovely, ChristyB – what you’ve given your friend and all others in a similar trap.

Sometimes, people shine bright for others while remaining in the dark themselves – this came to mind as I thought of your friend.

    Peace and blessings,

Eric, that is such an astute observation you have about people who share light while themselves remaining in the dark. I was that way and then the dark overcame me, as well. Balance, there needs to be balance…
I do so love your comments, dear Eric. Many blessings I send back to you x

    Hello my dearest Christy B!!!

    I love the poem…

It makes me think about the role we play in the fact of constructing esteem… Becasuse at the end of the day we are the only architects of our own self…

Love when you say “You are full-frame in all eyes except your own”.

Sometimes when you are a gifted person it could be hard for you to recognize your achievements

The whole self steem topic is a kind of dialectic game in which the main key is balance,

Not having high self esteem could also be useful… this might be good if you are learning an important lesson about yourself by considering your own limits, and if you are trying to improve and become even better…. But if you’re not, then it could be wiser to it let go and to begin to acknowledge all your virtues, because the real thing is you have them..

    Very well done ;)….

    Cheers ! Aquileana πŸ™‚

Your words Amalia about the balance of self-esteem are so interesting… A person who comes off across as arrogant, I think, may suffer from low confidence in reality… there are so many layers to pursue..
I always enjoy your thought-provoking comments. Thanks for leaving such a great comment!

Help him to see his thoughts that are holding him back.Confront the fear that is inside and take control.Poetry can do this.In expressing himself with words he can release the fear.
